A Bride by Moonlight by Liz Carlyle‏

A lifelong Anglophile, Liz Carlyle cut her teeth reading gothic novels under the bedcovers by flashlight. She is the author of over twenty historical romances, including several New York Times bestsellers. Liz travels incessantly, ever in search of the perfect setting for her next book. Along with her genuine romance-hero husband and four very fine felines, she makes her home in North Carolina.

Royden Napier, Baron Saint-Bryce, is tall, dark, and ruthless—and on the hunt for a dangerous beauty . . . On the eve of her escape to the Continent, bold, beautiful Lisette Colburne accepts a proposal she dare not refuse: masquerade as the future bride of the steely-eyed Royden Napier and help him solve his most dangerous case. Soon Lisette is in even greater danger—of losing her heart to the one man with the power to destroy her . . .

Estranged from his aristocratic family, the enigmatic Napier has forged a reputation as Scotland Yard's most relentless police commissioner. He's vowed to bring Lisette to justice—but with every forbidden kiss and every tantalizing touch, he finds himself becoming less convinced of her guilt . . . and more certain he must have her. But when danger touches Lisette, can he save her?
Q) What inspired you to write this story?

The hero, Royden Napier, inspired me. Napier was a secondary character in several of my earlier books, and I knew almost as soon as he sprang to life in my head that he was the sort of gentleman who would demand his own story. I just had to find a heroine worthy enough—and stubborn enough to hold her own against him. I think in Lisette I definitely found that!

Q) How long did it take you to write?
About six months, although much of his personality and character was known to me when I started the manuscript.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I like being able to work from home. For many years I had to travel extensively on business, and I grew very weary of it.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Strangely, having to release the manuscripts. I’m always certain that just one more month or week or day of tweaking will make it perfect. Left to my own devices, I’d probably just write books, pass them around to a couple of friends, and then tuck them away. I actually have several of those books on hand, now I think on it . . .

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I would be Queen Elizabeth, I think, so that I could get a behind-the-scenes tour of Buckingham Palace.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I have a bottle of twenty-year-old tawny port. Since I don’t have a cellar, I didn’t know where else to put it.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I’ll have a new book later this year entitled In Love With A Wicked Man.

Thank you!
